A few things here, first we'll start with a huge pressing issue and something that is very dear to me:It is just so depressing knowing that I'm here in Florida going about my life with barely any complications in a nice home with a nice job, while in Taiji Japan thousands of dolphins and cetaceans are being slaughtered for no good reason. The beginning of September marked the start of the dolphin killing season in the small cove located in Taiji (a town which says to love and cherish dolphins, many statues, posters, aquariums, and gift shops adorn this small town). I've been following many twitter accounts and feeds sending out updates on the slaughter including the killing of several mothers and babies. These killers claim that it is their culture, which is bullshit because most of Japan doesn't even know this is going on. You can't eat dolphin meat because of the insanely high levels of mercury so they often label the meat as something else, typically other kinds of marine life like tuna or other fish. So not only is Japan killing thousands and thousands of dolphins every year but they are knowingly poisoning their people. How is this acceptable? Someone please tell me.
It kills me that the only thing I can personally do is donate and spread awareness. If you haven't seen it I highly suggest watching The Cove, the 2009 documentary about Ric O'Barry's struggles to stop this annual slaughter. It's a good film and sums up basically everything you need to know about what is going on. I also suggest browsing youtube for more videos and exposure as well as checking out these websites listed below:

Next:I've always been touched by the orca Luna's story of befriending humans after he was separated from his pod. Well my research on orcas and other marine line in danger brought me to this website:
[link]Apparently they made a movie about him! Watching the trailer was emotional enough for me but I reaalllyy want to see this film, sadly it is only being released in a few cities at a time. I filled out the quick and easy form to have it shown here in Orlando but if any of you could help that would be great! Or if you'd like to see it vote for your city

Also, read this part of the site telling about his story, it is just so touching:
